Scaldaferri, Nicola

Currently, is researcher and professor of Ethnomusicology and Anthropology of Music at the University of Milano, Italy, where is director of the LEAV – Laboratory of Ethnomusicology and Visual Anthropology (www.leav.unimi.it). His main interests are Albanian epic tradition, Arbëresh oral tradition, performance studies, traditional music in Italy and Mediterranean area, audiovisual media.

He obtained his PhD in Musicology at the University of Bologna with a dissertation on Albanian epic tradition.

He has been Visiting Professor at the State University of S. Peterburg (Russia), and Fulbright Scholar at Harvard University (USA), where he studied the epic materials of the Milman Parry Collection.
