Yin, Hubin

Yin Hubin, born in 1960 in Liaoning, P. R. China, received his M.A. in Ethnology at Minzu University of China, Ph.D. in Folklore at Beijing Normal University. He is Professor and Deputy Director at Institute of Ethnic Literature, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Secretary-in-General of Chinese Society of Ethnic Literature. Current specialization is oral tradition and Chinese folk religion. His main publications include Gudai Jingdian yu Koutou Chuantong (Classical Canons and Oral Tradition, Beijing: Zhongguo Shehui Kexue Chubanshe, November 2002), Gushi de Geshou (Translation from The Singer of Tales of Albert Bates Lord, Harvard University Press, the second edition, 2000, Cambridge, Mass. Chinese edition publisher: Zhonghua Shuju, 2003), Shishi yu Yingxiong (Epics and Heroes in China’s Minority Cultures, co-editor with Mineke Schipper. Nanning: Guangxi Shifan Daxue Chubanshe, 2004), China’s Creation and Origin Myths: Cross-cultural Explorations in Oral and Written Traditions, co-editor with Mineke Schipper.
