The Russian Federation is one of the great countries in the world famous for its ancient history and culture. Two years ago the Kalmyk people, one of the members of the large Russian multinational family, celebrated its 400th anniversary within the borders of the Russian state. For these four centuries Kalmyks, as well as other nationalities, have made their great contribution to the development of the country and its culture. The most illustrious example of this contribution to the treasures of the national culture is, without any doubt, the Kalmyk heroic epic “Djanggar”.
